The One with 130 Irish & Jill (Budapest)

Updated: Mar 26, 2018

I started my spring break in Budapest, Hungary with 130 Irish students that study science at UCD. We arrived late into the night and stayed at an interesting hostel, to say the least. Little did I know that it would be the first night of minimal sleep.

Wednesday

The first day I went with my roommate, Aisling, and a few of her friends to an escape room. Later, along with 14 other people, we went on a group bike that required ten people to peddle to keep the bike going and we were right in traffic with the buses and cars. It was as crazy as you might be imagining, but loads of fun!

Thursday

After lunch, we headed to St. Stephen's Basilica to start a walking tour with a Pest native.

She was very proud of her country and did a lovely job of showing us around the Pest side and then the Buda side.

We walked from Pest to Buda on the Chain Bridge and made our way up the Buda Castle Hill.

This was the view from Castle Hill that over looked Pest. Our tour guide side that there is a lot to see in Buda and there is a lot to do in Pest.

Our next view was across the courtyard to view the Buda side.

We went through a local market that was full of good foods and knickknacks located near the Mattias Church. There was a band playing out front in celebration of Hungary's National Day.

Our last stop on the tour was at the Fisherman's Bastion.

That evening we went on a boat cruise along the river. The view with all the building lit up was neat!

Friday

On my last day I enjoyed the rain and a walk around the city. We went on the Budapest Eye which is a smaller version of the London Eye to get another look of the city.

The Parliament Building is huge!

My roommates for the week!

Just a quick nap before my early morning flight!

ST.PADDY'S DAY

With an early flight, a lay over, a delayed flight and very little sleep I didn't get to join in the Paddy's day festivities until late in the day. Still a great time in the city bursting with life and laughter!
