The One with the Three B's (Germany)

Honestly, I was not sure what to expect this weekend. Maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much! We left Dublin for Munich, Germany on Friday afternoon. When we arrived we had had enough time to check into the hostel and wonder to the train station to get our first bratwurst and pretzel of the weekend...Yum!

Saturday morning we set out to wonder the city bundled up with our hats and gloves on.

Marienplatz

We came across the Glockenspiel just in time to watch the display. The Glockenspiel in the green area in the middle part of the tower.

Later in the day, during a tour, a guide explained that it reenacts two stories from the 16th century.

Viktualienmarkt

Next we decided to join a tour around the city to learn more facts and fun old tales that originated from around the city.

A May Pole with a few images that reflect key festivals, occasions, and industries in this Bavaria area.

Feldherrnhalle

Hofbräuhaus

We headed for warm seats and Bavarian pretzels to dry our coats after a day in the snow.

My cousin, Lars, his wife, Jenny, and his daughter, Emma, joined us for supper!

Lars and Jenny were great to talk to! ( and helped us order our food) Being they live in Munich, they were able to tell us about their favorite places and provided us with perfect recommendations.

Thanks for taking time to visit with us! :)

After a long night with less than ideal sleep (thanks to the loud snorer in the hostel) we took off Sunday morning with our bags to see a few more places around Munich.

Dachau concentration camp

Visiting a concentration camp was high up on my "to do" list while in Europe. After reading so many books and school studies, it was hard to imagine what happened years ago where I was standing.

We left Dachau to go to the Deutsches Museum for a few hours.

Then, after a long supper, we headed to the bus stop for an eleven hour bus ride (and bed) to Hamburg!

I have never appreciated my BLANKET scarf more!

HAMBURG

We felt like true backpackers Monday morning when we got off the bus and found a coffee shop near us to change and prepare for the day. The treats and coffee were delicious!

We spent about six hours walking around the city checking out the river, lake, and any building that caught our eye.

We looked at the city hall, St. Nikolai Memorial, St. Michael's Church and a few others.

Thanks for reading!!

Any luck guessing what the three B's are?

Next weekend will be exciting! :)
